Gets Sneak Peek at 2006 Annual Convention Site
Last
week, IWLA staff were afforded an early glimpse of the new Wynn Las
Vegas Luxury Resort, site of the Association's 115th Annual Convention
next March 19-22. "Not only is this property physically
striking and luxurious, but it also has every amenity one could possibly
desire to hold a top-flight business event," says IWLA President
& CEO Joel Hoiland. "The
just-concluded 2005 convention in Orlando was one of our most successful,
and it will be hard to top. However, the Wynn property, which was just
completed two months ago, will be the perfect setting for our attempt
to outdo ourselves next year." Association COO Alex
Glann concurs, noting that the meeting rooms and the space designated
for the exhibit hall will provide "premium opportunities for vendors
and members to interact seamlessly for the maximum benefit of all."

RFID driving demand
for logistics professionals - After years of toiling in obscurity,
America's logistics professionals suddenly find themselves a hot commodity.
The Sunday classified sections of newspapers are bursting with prominent
ads for the kinds of logistics-related positions that were once buried
in the back pages. What's driving this demand? RFID, according to DC
Velocity Editorial Director Mitch MacDonald. As companies race to
get their operations RFID-ready, many supply chain executives are realizing
that a shortage of RFID expertise could put a serious crimp in their
implementation plans. He cites one study that indicates eight in 10
corporate-level logistics executives believe a lack of RFID expertise
will inhibit their ability to exploit all that the technology appears
to offer.
